2012 Heel Drive

While the holidays can be a drag, they can also support drag. Do your dollar bills dance for you onstage after you drop them in a red bucket? Do they create an environment of acceptance and tolerance in a place that needs it the most? Probably not. That’s why the Queens of the Castro decided that while money is nice, your old pair of heels are even better. Why? Because every pair of heels, in any condition or size, goes right back to local high school GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) clubs. And what do they do with your tried and true dress shoes? They put them on (along with a wig or two) and dance onstage to present their peers with a better view of the world: one with tolerance, mutual respect and understanding.
